trachtenfest (traditional costume festival) in burg (spreewald) 2025
every year the people of burg gather together for a traditional costume festival and perform a parade through the little town. a stage, stands for food and some rides awaited us at the end of the parade. next to the stage area an interesting tradition took place for the 132nd time. a sorbian-wendish custom: cock plucking - £apanje kokota.
Whoever succeeds in this is crowned harvest king and may choose a queen from among the girls in their festive traditional costumes.
